Colonia 10/24/12

We booked a ferry in the morning to take us from BA to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay.  We ended up traveling with another German, Malta, who we met as we were both leaving the hostel for the same ferry trip across to Uruguay.  One short hour later we had crossed the Rio de la Plata and made it to Colonia.

Colonia is the oldest town in Uruguay (although it was originally under Portuguese rule) and is known for its historic quarter.  Besides that though, there's not a lot else to see/do.  Once in Colonia, we fed ourselves and hit the pavement, or actually cobble stone in this case, and saw the sights within a couple of hours.

We finished our day by watching the sun set with a view of Buenos Aires across the water.

In Colonia we stayed at El Viajero Hostel for $13 a night in a 8 bed dorm.
