Texans in Transit: Going Away Festivities

June has been full of staying busy with our last bit of preparations for our trip, but thankfully we have also been able to spend time with our friends and family who mean so much to us and we are going to miss!!

My great friends, Amineh and Kristi, planned a going away shin-dig for us to be able to get together with all our friends in the Dallas area the second weekend in June. My brother and sister came up from Houston, and we had the chance to catch up with a lot of people that we haven't seen in a while. Matt really enjoyed catching up with friends since he was in Abilene this past year. The night was wonderful and we were so happy to see everyone! Thank you to the party planners and to everyone who was able to make it!!

We also got to hang out with some of Matt's friends from Lake Jackson the night before in Fort Worth!

Last weekend we went down to Houston to spend some time with our families. We both have been blessed with amazing families and have been trying to spend lots of time with them before we leave. Our parents were able to meet for the first time and we all enjoyed lunch at our favorite Mexican food restaurant in Houston, Lupe Tortilla :-). Everything was fun and we're glad the 'rents could meet up before we head out!

Matt's mom also planned a get together for a few friends and family. He was very happy to be able to see his grandparents, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins that he hadn't been able to see in a long time. From the smile on his face the whole time, you could tell his family really holds a special place in his heart. We had a fantastic time and owe a big thanks to Libby (Matt's mom)!
